Stronger in 60 Seconds: Fix your grip for a bigger bench press

Here’s a simple cue to fix your grip for a bigger bench press.

Top Picture ❌ I’m gripping it in my knuckles near the base of my fingers. This causes my wrists to extend and bend back, throwing off my alignment.

? Bottom Picture I’m gripping the bar deep in my palm, getting it as TIGHT into my thumb as I possibly can. My wrists are in a more neutral position.

Maintaining straight wrists keeps the bar, wrists and forearms aligned for a more efficient press.

Remember to white knuckle it, and SQUEEZE the bar as hard as you can.
